Silvergate Plastics, has recently been acquired, by its management, from multinational organization, The Vita Group. The company therefore combines the autonomy of a SME with the systems, controls and quality management techniques of a much larger organisation.

Silvergate manufactures colour and additive masterbatch. Colour masterbatch is the product that determines the colour in plastic mouldings, extrusions, sheets or films and additive masterbatch delivers other benefits to those products. Examples are resistance to fungal attack and resistance to degradation through ultra violet light. Both types of masterbatch are created prior to the mix of ingredients that create the plastic product. Masterbatch is therefore a premix and is delivered to customers in the form of pellets.

Because of the nature of masterbatch, it's vital and profound effect upon the plastic product of which it forms, a number of unique factors affect it and it displays a number of unique features.

  • It is usually an extremely valuable part of the finished plastic product.
  • It is quite often ordered ‘at the last minute’ by users.
  • Producers have to be able to react quickly.
  • Because you can’t see what it is going to do just by looking at it, producers have to get it right first time, every time.

Silvergates continuing mission is to be ranked the most valuable supplier of each and every one of our customers; be they large or small, be their needs constant or unpredictable; and regardless of their location.
